A Taste Journey from Corfu to the World

In the heart of Corfu, the beautiful island of the Ionian Sea, a unique vision was born 20 years ago, to create a dessert that would reflect the rich cultural heritage of the island, based on its most characteristic local fruit, the kumquat.

Thus began the history of Kumqum, the authentic Corfiot sweet.

The Inspiration behind the KumQum

KumQum, with its distinctive taste and unique antioxidant properties, was the inspiration for the creation of KumQum. As a jewel of nature, kumquat is closely linked to the history and gastronomy of the island. This small but delicious fruit, introduced to Corfu in the 19th century by English colonists, quickly won the hearts of Corfiots and became a symbol of their local identity.

With love and respect for tradition, we decided to combine the excellent quality of the kumquat fruit with the deep knowledge of the art of pastry making. The aim was to create something unique: a dessert that would honour the fruit and enhance its flavour in a way worthy of its history.

The First Steps

The confectionery workshop started with a few but precious raw materials: finely chopped kumquats, extra virgin olive oil and a syrup made from the juice of the fruit. With dedication to detail and a passion for perfection, we tried dozens of recipes until we came up with what is now known as KumQum.

Creating the sweet was not just a culinary process - it was an act of love for Corfu and its local heritage. Every bite of KumQum encapsulates the taste, aroma and soul of the island. 

20 Years of Quality and Delivery

Today, after two decades, KumQum is recognized as one of Corfu's most iconic sweets. Patented by the Ministry of Development and the Industrial Property Organization (O.B.I.), this sweet is not just a product - it is a story of success, love for gastronomy and promotion of Corfu culture.

The workshop remains faithful to the principles that gave rise to it:
Use of local ingredients of high quality.
Traditional production methods with modern touches.
Dedication to hygiene and quality.

KumQum has become known all over the world, thanks to the tourists who visit the island and take it with them as a tasty memory of Corfu. It is now an ambassador of the island, promoting Corfu as a centre of gastronomy, culture and innovation.
